18:00 – 21:00
The Welcome Reception takes place at the Banff Gondola. This is a fully private CAPD/ACDP conference experience!
A shuttle bus from the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel will take you to the Gondola, where you will ride 8 minutes to the summit of Sulphur Mountain at an elevation of 2281 meters (7486 feet) to experience a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of six majestic mountain ranges (and the beautiful Yellow Larch trees). You’ll appreciate why this is a Canadian Rockies must-see destination.
Stroll along the ridgetop boardwalk where the views get better with every step. Enjoy cocktails and dinner in the new summit facility that includes interactive interpretive exhibits, a multi-sensory theatre and a breathtaking 360-degree rooftop observation deck.
Along with a camera, plan to bring a jacket, as the cool (and sometimes ‘cold’) summer temperatures and elevation of the Gondola may require an extra layer for the outside observation deck. There is, as well, a fully enclosed viewing area.
